Running Accomplishments:

- I did better than I hoped my first year of XC. Really I didn't know what to expect and looking back I'm proud of myself for reaching the level I did sophomore year.

-I broke five in the mile @ the Davis Invite Sophomore year

Freshman Year: I didn't run cross country because I didn't really know about it until well into the school year:( In track the first ever mile I ran at practice was a 7:13 (HA!) and I ended the season with a 5:38 PR. I really only ran the mile that year.

Sophomore Year: I started running XC with the first summer workouts. I built up mileage all summer and progressively got better. Once the season came in I PR'ed almost every race. I ended the season with a 17:27 at regions, which means I was splitting at about  5:48 miles, only ten seconds slower than my PR in the mile freshman year. I also got the Rookie of the Year award, along with Dakota. Track season, well, was track season. A lot of lovely drama and confusion but hopefully that is all over for next year because I really want to focus on being a competitor in my Region and at State. I ended the season with a 4:58 PR.

Junior Year: I had an awesome XC season. I built mileage all though the summer and pushed myself through the season. I was doing well, until my shins just got to painful to run through, and unfortunately that was the pretty much the end of my season. I took time off before Region and ran as hard as I could finishing 10. Once State came around, I decided that I would pull out of the race to give another one of our guys a shot at running. Right after State, I began cross training, and I cross trained all throughout the winter, until I got back to running about two weeks before indoor started. I struggled a bit during indoor to manage my shins, but I followed my training, got stronger, and strengthened myself enough where my shins no longer even bothered me. I was able to go through the entire outdoor season without injury and climbed to mileage I had never achieved. I was second in the 2 mile at Region and made State, where I PR'ed again. I couldn't be happier with my outdoor season because although I didn't quite reach the times I could have hoped for, I stayed 100% injury free and I can tell that I am stronger and ready to take on a summer of hard training.

Senior Year: I trained hard and consistently this summer, climbing to 100 mile weeks, and feeling strong while doing so. I stayed at high mileage all through the season, averaging 90 miles a week, and racing hard all the while. When it came time to taper, I saw just how much all those miles paid off, and  now I'm proud to say I'm a Region Champion, as well as top 10 in the state.I trained hard and consistently this summer, and it payed off. I am a different runner now than I was a year ago, staying completely away from injury, giving me confidence that my body can take all the hard training that is coming up. I trained hard and went into Footlocker excited, but I did not do nearly as well as I could have. But, my failure at Footlocker fueled me for the season, and I set some PR's during Indoor. My real step up though, was during outdoor. I improved all season, with some great highlights along the way. I ran well at Arcadia, racing three times and PR'ing by almost 40 seconds in a 3200 after having raced twice previously. I continued improving and working hard, and at the Davis Invite I finished third with a 4:14 1600. I then went on to finish 5th at State in the 1600, and 3rd in the 3200, a big improvement over my 10th place finish during Cross.  Despite knowing that I could have done better this year, I am very satisfied with how my season went. I made a big jump through hard work, and I learned so much about running and about myself. Now, I am proud to say that I have signed to BYU and will be running for one of the best teams in the NCAA! Go Cougars!

AM: Biked for half an hour, threw in 2 sets of 5 minutes at higher resistance

PM: Workout. 6X800 on intramurals. Hit 2:21, 2:18, 2:19, 2:22, sat one to throw up, 2:19. Times were alright but I was struggling with my stomach. Don't know if its something I ate. I threw up and felt a little better. Then cool down.

AM: Biked for half an hour.

PM: Workout. Mile break down so 1600, 1200, 1000, 800. Traveling guys were gone so a small group today out on the track. I hit 4:40, 3:29, 3:04, then sat out the 800. I wasn't feeling tired or fatigued but again my stomach was killing today. Tried to throwup but couldn't. Hopefully I get this figured out. Then cool down.

AM: Today was the Homecoming 5k, and there are a few races before the 5k for kids which I paced. I ran both genders of the 400, 800, and mile. That was a lot of fun, but man some of those kids go out really fast. We hit a 34 second 200 in the girls mile. It ended up being good pace mileage, which was nice. With the warm up and running around I got done after those races, I got 7.5, then I went for a run with all the guys who helped out with the 5k, which was nearly all the guys not traveling. Got another 7.5 for 15.

AM: Was running late so was only able to bike for about 20 minutes this morning. Threw in ten minutes at a harder resistance

PM: I've been feeling sick since this morning, mainly just a headache and sore throat, so when I heard we were doing Hobble Creek today I was preparing myself for disaster. But I remember back in my high school days I had great workouts and even races when I was sick, so I just prepared myself anyway. We started and the first 15 were a nice, controlled effort, right around 6 minute pace. After that we started picking it up, and around 20 minutes I was in the front pushing, but I didn't feel like I was going too hard. I was feeling pretty good other than I couldn't breathe because of my sinuses, and when the pushing came around 30 minutes for the last part of the tempo, my breathing caught up to me and the lead guys pulled away. I got a little past 30 minutes and decided to stop. I brought my average down to 5:52 which is the fastest average I've ever had on this workout, and had I been able to breathe I think I could have finished the workout with the lead guys. So today was actually a good workout and I'm glad I made myself push through it even though I felt horrible all day. We cooled down the canyon and then hopped in the vans to go back.

AM: Went an easy three on the treadmill and then did my lift since I couldn't get it done yesterday because we got back from Hobble so late.

PM: Went up to the state meet, so I got just under 5 miles running around the course and watching races, then we decided to head back to the SFH and I was dreading having to go another 5 to get to 10 but I made myself do it. I'm glad I did, but by the time I finished I was famished. Exciting races today!

AM: Biked for 30 minutes this morning.

PM: Workout at the track. 4X1600 quick. Went 4:42, 4:45, 4:43, and then I did 800, sat a lap, and did the last lap with the group in 2:20 and 63. Felt good despite not being able to breathe due to being sick. My fitness is coming along. I've felt good this week with only a small bump in mileage so I'm hoping that come early-mid december I'll be in a good place fitness wise. Breathing with the problem today so I want to focus on getting better so I can finish the entire workout. Cooled down to 10.

AM: Long run! We averaged between 6:20-30 on the way and then picked it up on the way back, but didn't kill it. A nice, controlled harder effort. Last two miles a bit quicker, with the last mile around 5:20. 5:56 average.

AM: Was in salt lake so I met with Bill, Garek, and Chris for a run at pipeline. It was nice to get to run on that trail at this time of year, and always good to run with the old team. Conversational speed the entire run.

AM: 3 miles on the treadmill easy.

PM: Workout today because of conference this weekend. We did 2Xmile and 2X800 on the intramural field. The sun was out, but there was some wind and it was kind of cold. Went 4:52, 5:03, 2:28, 2:28. Overall I didn't feel great in this workout, I give myself a C+. My times weren't as consistent as I would have liked, and my 800's should've been 3 seconds faster at least. Positives: I finished the entire workout and stayed with the group, and even though I wasn't too happy with my times, they are still way faster than what I would have run a month ago. Cool down to 10

AM: Easy 3 miles on the treadmill.

PM: Workout will be on Thursday for the guys not going to conference, so again today was an easy run day. They had like a track team fun day at Lowes Airsport, which was fun, but I left early so I could get my run in. Did Carterville 10 on my own, then came back and ended up lifting since Alex won't be in the training room tomorrow. Then took an ice bath before finally being done for the day.
